Award-Winning Garden Design In Berry Hill
This project took us to Berry Hill, and our client had requested a complete overhaul of her garden. She wanted a completely new design, with a sleek, contemporary look complete with two new patios at the upper and lower ends of the garden.
With this request for small and large patios in the garden, the client could make better use of her garden and spend more time outdoors, entertaining and relaxing.
As you can see we pretty much started with a blank canvas so we could really develop the design to be exactly what the customer wanted.
Developing The Garden Design
To begin this project, we set out to develop what would eventually become an award-winning garden design. For this project, we worked closely with the client to create a garden design that met her vision and brought about the changes she desired in the landscape.
We cover all requirements in our garden design service, including hard and soft landscaping, to deliver a comprehensive solution. Before any physical work could begin, however, we first needed to clear the garden and refresh the space ready for something new.
Once the landscape was clear, we set to mark the boundaries with a new contemporary element to offset the design. For this, we installed lattice fencing with lights, which beautifully softened the edging of the garden and created a modern barrier our client was pleased with.
Building Foundations
Our next step was to construct a wall and flowerbed to add structure to the award-winning garden design. These were both developed using sturdy materials, concrete blocks and blue bricks, for a contemporary design to the space.
Not only did we consider the appearance of these new elements, but we also supported the landscape and all future work that may take place by incorporating drainage along the flower bed’s edge.
To make the garden accessible for our client, we also installed concrete steps to make access between levels seamless. These steps were done in the same materials as the paving and walls, to create a comprehensive design to the garden that enhanced the appeal of the overall space.
Bamboo Screenings and Planting
While hardscaping created the backbone for this award-winning garden design, it was not the only work we did to complete the space.
To enhance privacy and aesthetic appeal, we set up a planting region behind the wall. We planted bamboo, acers, and grasses draping the area in a soothing green cover, adding a natural touch to the new award-winning design while also providing tranquillity for our client.
To weed out unwanted growth in the remaining soil areas of the landscape, we laid a weed membrane. This membrane was then covered with eye-catching red/grey granite stones to bring the design together and create new focal points.
The remaining spots were densely packed with crushed runs to lay a robust foundation for the pergola.
Metal Pergola Development
Pergolas are excellent additions to outdoor spaces as they offer shade during hot, summer afternoons. In this design, we installed a sleek metal pergola in the lower quarters of the garden.
This created a shaded seating area for our client to enjoy, while also enhancing the contemporary appearance of the new landscape.
The remaining space was transformed using a small artificial grass. This lux artificial grass beautifully complemented the garden’s overall look and added a new environment to be enjoyed on summer afternoons.
Porcelain Paving and Final Touches
To create the contemporary look our client requested, we laid Belize Riva porcelain paving throughout the garden.
Each slab was painted on the back with a slurry paste and laid on a wet bed of sand and cement to set. For additional stability, the joints were then filled with a jointing compound, Prem Joint. This 600 x 600 paving was bordered with charcoal block paving to create a unique design that truly stood out.
This modern type of paving not only uplifts the garden’s aesthetics but is also incredibly easy to maintain, which is what our client desired.
The Final Result: Award-Winning Garden Design
Our relentless dedication and commitment saw the project bag the prestigious Talasey Design of the Week award.
We are incredibly pleased with this project, but our greatest achievement was our client’s satisfaction. She was incredibly pleased with the stunning transformation of her garden space.
